Born from a community
Made in Earth grew during the COVID period, when tourism stopped and rural experience providers in Eco Team's network lost their usual work. Working with that network, we brought locally made products to market, creating another source of income during a difficult time.
Backed by Eco Team, Made in Earth has been serving the Sri Lankan market for around four years. Our products are available in leading supermarkets, and you can also order directly from us.
Meet the range
Our food range centres on kithul jaggery, kithul treacle, forest bee honey and infused honey. We work with rural producers and collectors, bringing their skills and products to more tables.
Traditional kithul craftsmanship
Our kithul comes from communities around Sinharaja and the Peak Wilderness region. Harvesting the sap and turning it into treacle or jaggery requires time, patience and skills passed through generations.
Individual character, familiar kithul flavour
Kithul can taste a little different from one batch to another. The village, tree, its maturity and seasonal conditions all contribute to its character. Those subtle differences are part of working with a natural, traditionally made product.
